Little Andaman Pro 2026 Set to Make Waves as India’s Premier Surfing Championship Debuts in the Islands
Little Andaman, April 7, 2026: India’s surfing landscape is set for a major boost as the Little Andaman Pro 2026, a national-level surfing championship, gears up to take place from April 9 to 12 at the scenic Butler Bay Beach in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Little Andaman Pro 2026 Organised by the Surfing Federation of India in association with Andaman & Nicobar Tourism, the four-day event marks the first time a national surfing competition of this scale will be hosted in the islands—signalling a new chapter for adventure sports in the region.
The championship will feature around 86 surfers, including top-ranked Indian athletes and international participants, competing across multiple categories such as Men’s and Women’s Open Surfing Shortboard and Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) events.
The event was formally inaugurated by Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, alongside senior officials and representatives from the Surfing Federation of India, underlining strong institutional support for the sport’s growth in India.
Speaking ahead of the event, Surfing Federation of India President Arun Vasu highlighted the importance of the championship, noting that exposure to reef wave conditions in Little Andaman will play a crucial role in preparing Indian surfers for international competitions.
Beyond competition, the Little Andaman Pro 2026 is expected to significantly elevate the islands’ profile as an emerging global surfing destination. Known for its pristine waters, consistent swells, and rich marine biodiversity, the region offers ideal conditions for both professional surfers and adventure enthusiasts.
The event also aligns with broader goals of promoting sustainable tourism and engaging local communities through employment and training opportunities in ocean sports.
As India continues to expand its footprint in global surfing, the Little Andaman Pro 2026 stands as a landmark initiative—blending high-performance sport with environmental consciousness and tourism development.
